For many tradies, tools do not get replaced because they have stopped working. They get replaced because they are slowing the job down. Extra time in setup, cutting, checking and rework can build up across every install, affecting productivity, accuracy and finish quality.

As we approach EOFY, it is a good opportunity to review the gear you use every day and identify any tools that may be impacting how smoothly the job runs

Some of the most common upgrades include:

  • Tile handling equipment for large format installations
  • Cutting systems that improve accuracy and reduce rework
  • Mixing tools, trowels and grout tools
  • Levelling systems, blades and other consumables
  • Site preparation and protection equipment

Often, it is the smaller items that make the biggest difference to day to day efficiency. Worn blades, tired mixing paddles or outdated levelling systems can add time and rework to every job.

Depending on your circumstances, eligible work related tools and equipment may be deductible. Tradies should seek advice from their accountant or registered tax professional regarding their specific situation.

If you are considering upgrading your setup, remember to keep records of any purchases and speak with your accountant or registered tax adviser about what may be applicable to your circumstances.
