Why We Love Luxury Vinyl Flooring

Ah, luxury vinyl flooring! Where do we begin?

If you're tired of the same old carpet or hardwood, then you've come to the right place. We're all about the glitz, the glam, and the luxury of vinyl flooring.

Firstly, let us clarify what luxury vinyl flooring is.

It is a type of flooring that is designed to mimic the look and feel of natural materials such as hardwood, stone, or ceramic tile, but at a much more affordable price point. Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP) are made from multiple layers of PVC vinyl and other materials, which gives it durability, water resistance, and easy maintenance.

So, why do we love Luxury Vinyl Flooring?

Its Versatility

Well, for starters, it is incredibly versatile. With LVP, you can achieve the look of hardwood without the high cost or maintenance. Whether you want a classic, traditional look or something more modern and contemporary, there is an LVP style for everyone.

Easy for Renovation

Another reason we love Luxury Vinyl Flooring is that it is an easy win for a renovation, as you can potentially install it right over the top of your current floor, including concrete, wood, and even existing tile. Did you know that it is only 3mm thick? This means your new Luxury Vinyl Flooring won’t change the heights much of your current permanent fixtures, like doors or the height of benches.

But perhaps the biggest reason we love Luxury Vinyl Flooring is because of its durability and low maintenance.

Luxury Vinyl Flooring is resistant to scratches, stains, and dents, making it an ideal flooring option for high-traffic areas or households with pets and children. And because it is water-resistant, it can be used in areas like bathrooms (away from the shower) and kitchens without fear of water damage. Additionally, Luxury Vinyl Flooring requires little maintenance beyond regular sweeping and occasional mopping, making it an easy and convenient choice for busy homeowners.

Luxury Vinyl FAQs

Luxury vinyl Planks (LVP) are a popular flooring option that has gained popularity in recent years due to their durability, affordability, and aesthetic appeal.

We will address some of the most common questions about luxury vinyl flooring and provide helpful answers to guide you in making an informed decision.

  • What is vinyl flooring?

Vinyl flooring is a tough and durable floor covering with a dense Luxury Vinyl Base suitable for a direct stick glue-down application over a sound substrate.  It is designed with a realistic timber look and a textured feel, so it feels as good as it looks. Beaumonts have a luxury vinyl range called Monsoon in a plank form, with a wear layer for durability and UV coating for protection from sun, scratches and stains.
  • What are the different types of vinyl flooring?

Beaumonts have carefully selected a Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) range that looks like hardwood timber flooring. This type of vinyl flooring has easy installation and has more of an authentic timber look than other types of vinyl. Other vinyl types include:

    • Sheet vinyl, comes in large rolls and can be suited to fit the shape of a room… similar concept to carpet.
    • Vinyl tiles, come in a variety of sizes and have the added benefit of being laid in different patterns
    • Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT), are similar to LVP but they look similar to ceramic or porcelain tiles.
  • Is vinyl flooring waterproof?

Not all vinyl flooring is water resistant, but the good news is that some of Beaumont’s Luxury Vinyl Planks are water-resistant! However, they must not be used in bathrooms, shower cubicles, laundries or toilets. As water can seep through seams and edges, which won’t protect the substrate if there’s lots of water.
  • Can vinyl flooring be installed over existing flooring?

Yes, vinyl flooring can be installed over existing flooring. Our Luxury Vinyl Planks can be installed over concrete, particle board, plywood, cement sheeting, tiles or cork. The area just needs to be dry, flat, secure, and in really good condition. If you are installing over tiles, they need to be secure and grout lines must be filled in.
  • How to clean and maintain vinyl flooring?

Luxury Vinyl Flooring care and maintenance is simply just a wipe, zip, mop and rub!

    • Wipe away spills straight away with an absorbent cloth.
    • Zip a stick vacuum or soft bristle broom over your floor to get rid of daily dirt and dust.
    • Mop your floor with a moist or static mop with a low alkaline cleaner (HOT TIP: we recommend BONA floor care products).
    • Lightly rub your floor with a soft cloth to remove scuff marks.

Extra tips: Always use soft bristles on brushes, and soft cloths and mops, and never use harsh chemicals, wax, polish, and keep pet’s claws trimmed. Make sure you use floor protectors under chair and table legs, and definitely don’t slide furniture, use safe lifting methods. Don’t underestimate the power of a mat at entry points.
